Supermom to the rescue: #MyFirstExpert!

Mother. The other word for it is ‘selfless’, ‘love’, ‘understanding’, and ‘affection’. There are multiple synonyms that we can create for the word ‘mother’. But honestly, none would be able to justify or define the word mother. It is because her significance goes beyond adjectives. How can a mother understand her child’s needs without her child even uttering a word? How can a mother sacrifice her entire life to love her children perpetually? The bond between a mother-child is created right from when the first cell of the fetus starts forming in the mother’s womb.

As kids, we have grown up watching all our favorite superheroes, be it Batman, Spiderman, Phantom, or Superman. But for me, I had just one superhero who raised, loved, nurtured, and rescued me from every difficulty to make me who I am today. As the world celebrates mother’s day and relives their fond memories with their mother, I realize that Ma is my true supermom. I am indeed fortunate and indebted that my mother has always been there for me as my first expert. So, I am dedicating this post to all the supermoms on this earth and especially to my dearest supermom. Let me tell you how our mommies have come to be known as the supermoms we know and love.

These are some of the ways in which my ma has been a supermom:

1.  Super Teacher

I cherish how Ma taught me to hold the pencil and write the alphabets without forcing or scolding me. It is because of her efforts and dedication that today people love my handwriting. Even during school days, I didn’t have to attend tuition because the best teacher, my Ma, would ensure that I completed my homework assignments and studies on a daily basis. Though she was a little weak in mathematics, she would still take the trouble to learn and teach me simple calculation tricks without losing her patience or yelling at my errors. Since Ma loved stitching and making lovely dresses for me, she enthusiastically taught me how to operate a mini sewing machine. It was challenging at first (what new thing on this earth isn’t difficult?), but later I started enjoying it. The way she harmonizes work and family life is pure management (MBA in Home Management) and that too without a degree. Who wouldn’t want such a loving and caring teacher?

2.  Super Model

Shopping with mom has always been an exciting experience. She would teach the tricks of bargaining with vendors. I remember the time when I wanted a pair of sneakers for my 14th birthday, she took me to the clothing and accessory local market and asked me to observe her purchase the shoes at an affordable deal. No wonder that today I can bargain very well with all shopkeepers, roadside vegetable vendors, and even fisher ladies. She has always been motivating. Even in my childhood, she never compared me to other kids or nagged why I couldn’t score first rank in academics or won a school dance competition like her friends’ kids. Teaching me how to handle my finances, when to spend, and how to save up for a better future, Ma has always been particular in instilling the right spending habits in me. The one thing she always believed was that I had to create my path, carve my dreams, and not follow others. That is the sole reason; I am now a blogger and a writer, happy to earn doing what I love and being the best at it. She has been a true role model whom I could look up to all these years.

3.  Super Chef

Today, if I can toss up some exceptional dishes then it’s only due to her passion for cooking that has rubbed onto me. Her idea of making me learn cooking was not to impress my future in-laws but to make me independent and cook to survive. When I was a young girl, as soon as I ran back home from school, there was delicious hot food served on the dining table. Sundays were always fun as ma would explore her culinary skills and cook a scrumptious meal while I would excitedly sniff the heavenly aromas that came from the kitchen and kept guessing the dish being prepared by her.

4.  Super Granny

There is nothing more innocent and purer than the love of a grandmother for her grandchild. When mom gave birth to me, it was hectic trying to balance work life at the same time, taking care of me. But, grandma has always been there throughout as a meaningful support in our life. She is a hands-on grandmother. Right from massaging, changing diapers, to reading bedtime stories, grandma cared for me as if I was not her grandchild but her own newborn. Someday, when I have a child, I know that my mom too will shower all her attention on my little one. And at that point of time, her unconditional love and support will be my strength and support. Who needs Batman or Robin when my Super Granny is there to care and love me so much?

Okay! All this while, I have been speaking of how much my mom has done for me. She is my Super Mom, Super Teacher, Super Chef, Super this, Super that; but, this is about Mother’s day, right? And this is that one day in the year, where you can shower your supermom with loads of affection. So, you may ask, what special have I done for my mother to make her feel like a supermom in this greeting filled season? Let’s find out.

So folks, now you know how this one woman plays diverse roles and how much importance she has in our lives. No matter how much we study or write about this person, we will never be able to sum up the love and sacrifices our moms have done for us. I have made my Mom feel special this Mother’s day. If you haven’t wished her yet then go, give her a big tight hug, making her feel like the most extraordinary person on this earth.
